Recording Rapid Games?

No denying rapid tournaments in Malaysia is crazy popular and you can find one rapid tourney almost every week of the year !

However, few games from rapids actually get to see the light of day. It is very rare to even see anyone recording their game due to the time constraints of a rapid game. More so now that most tournaments reduce the standard rapid time limit from 30 minutes to 25 and even 20 minutes.

No doubt there is less value in a rapid game compared to a classical long game as there is more mistakes made in the shorter time control game. Still it would be interesting if some top board rapid games were made available to the public to see.

I noticed more DGT boards being purchased in Malaysia, so I am interested to see some games from rapid to appear online.

Imagine being able to see games for the first time of rapid games of local players like Li Tian, Kamaluddin Yusof, Ian Udani ('local'?), etc. Usually the only way you can witness these games if you are actually looking over the shoulders of players at the actualy tournament itself but usually that would be among a crowd already surrounding that table.

It does not have to be live, just recorded.

For example, there is public interest in watching fast games like blitz in video form:-

It was 18 years ago Short went one on one versus Kasparov in a World Championship match. Here they are again in an exhibition blitz match.

What I  like to see is maybe for a start just one DGT board is used to record (not necessarily to broadcast live) the game. At the end of the tourney, there will be some interesting 6 or 7 games to be published instead of just the customary chess results and a couple of Facebook pix which is getting tired nowadays.

Doing something like this will definitely make that one day tourney stand out among the many one day local rapids.
