73 players are participating the Open section of the Pekan FIDE Rapid tournament. Top seeds Mok, Mas, Ian Udani, Nelson Villaneuva, Steward Manaog are among the 16 players with 2/2. 

Mok's game on board 1 vs Nor Atiqah Mohd.Niza in round 2 was the last to finish with a marathon 91 mover ending at 2.30pm when the schedule expected all games to end by 2.15pm. This is not unusual as the time control is 45 minutes with 15 seconds increment.
