15th Dato' Arthur Ran Malaysian Open draws to a close today with the last round being played at 9am.


GM Wang Hao is now leading after beating 2016 Johor Champion GM Idani Pouya in Round 8. However close behind him just half a point behind is Oliver Dimakiling. GM Oliver Dimakiling outplayed GM Susanto Megaranto in a 4 Queen endgame to set up a meet with Wang Hao in the final round. (see video below).




Previous round leader GM Firoujza Alireza drew against IM Tran Tuan Minh so the former joins GM Oliver Dimakiling both half a point Wang Hao.

After the Open concludes there the last event of the Malaysian Chess Festival - Blitz which starts at 1pm.
