Ahmad Fadzil Nayan

Posted by GilaChess
Received the shocking news that Ahmad Fadzil Nayan passed away last night after sufferering from heart troubles. This is sad news indeed as he was only 27 years old.

He was a fellow Perakian and I met him over the board over 10 years ago playing at Wilayah Kompleks during one of the weekend rapid tourney.

May he rest in peace.

The last time I saw him was when he played against eventual Malaysian Open 2014 champion Zhang Zhong on board one, round 1 last year. He held the GM to a draw.

Yes, it's a loss to Malaysian chess. He was one of the nicest guys in Malaysian chess too - always friendly to all.
He showed that to be good in chess, it is not necessary to be aloof.
