It is rare to have any movie made about chess. It's even more rare when Disney is producing it. So this is probably the biggest movie about chess ever since the 1993 Searching for Bobby Fischer (about IM Josh Waitzkin).





"The Queen of Katwe" is currently playing at the Baku Olympiad.

It is not important the number of wins she has but the inspiring story her struggles. I can't wait for the movie to come out. I hope Malaysians who are there in Baku take the opportunity to at least say hi to her. :)

P/S: her name is Phiona Mutesi. Also there is some drama as the Uganda team only planned to field 2 players because of cost but last minute managed to get air tickets enabling them to field the full team. Also if you look at chess-results.com they only started playing in Round 4!
