One of the advantages of chess is it encourages spatial reasoning skills.

It helps out kids in their visual memory, improving their attention span and capacity to predict and anticipate consequences. I see the same advantages inherent in Starcraft too.

Another attraction to Starcraft is breath of skill levels one can be on. Here's an exreme example:-
