10th Penang Heritage City International Chess Open 2018

By GilaChess - December 04, 2018

This year, Jagdeep Singh Deo who is the Penang State Executive Councillor officiated the 10th Penang Heritage City International Chess Open 2018.

It's unfortunate as the date of Open is close to the Asian Continental Chess held in Philippines from the 9th to 19th December. That event has a bigger prize fund and provides qualification places for the 2019 World Cup.

Still, a total of 92 players are taking part in this year's edition of the Penang Open which includes Grandmaster Villamayor Buenaventura and 6 International Masters. The event will last from December 3 to 8 December. There will also be a Blitz event December 6 and the Penang Chess League between the 8-9 December.
