Smallest tourney but biggest traffic

By GilaChess - November 16, 2015

The Ole Ole tourney is one of the smallest tournament I've attended. Small in terms of prize money scale. Not to belittle the organisers or anything but RM 200  300 for first prize is rather on the thin average side. :)

To their credit, they did give out some voucher goodies to every participant. I got 20% discount for some burger/fries stall order.

Also despite the prize money, it did attract relatively strong players like national player Lim Zhuo Ren to take part.

But what I like about the tourney is the traffic achieved as it is another record for this blog personally at 500+ for a single day tournament. All that without any live DGT board broadcast or live blogging. Also since I was playing, there wasn't may post from me.

One reason may be that many other blogs are inactive and this blog and catur.org now holds a monopoly on anything chess related online.

One major chess website that has gone offline recently is stonemaster.info. It is unfortunate but understandable with the rise of the USD currency it has made  paid webhosted sites a little more expensive too.
